The Msamaria Center for Street Children (MCSC) is a non-governmental, philanthropic organization operating with a focus to provide care and support to street children, orphans and families within our surrounding communities. We are located in the township of Moshi which lies at foothill of Mount Kilimanjaro in Northern Tanzania. The centre is home to approximately 60 children ranging in age from 5 to 16 years old. The majority of our children were recruited from the streets where they lived due to various difficult situations. Under the guidance of Folkward Mapunda and his volunteers, the children are now living a better life and beginning to realize their full potential. More..

THE ESTABLISHMENT
MCSC was established in October 2007 by Folkward Mapunda, a Senior Social Worker and has the registration number: 07NGO/0468 under Non-Governmental Organization Act, 2002.
The spirit of initiating this organization came with a desire to give optional home care for those untouched. MCSC recognized the need for children's rights promotion as described by UN Convection of Right of Children. -
CHILDRENS' HOME
MCSC has a center in Moshi Municipality with capacity of accommodating up to 60 children. The children range in ages from 5 to 16 years old. Most of these children are brought from Moshi streets by trained social workers and a few referral cases from the Social Welfare Department or the Police Department.
The children vacate their homes due to various reasons, including but not limited to the following: HIV/AIDS, divorce, mistreatment, poverty, alcoholism, poor family planning, irresponsible parents and peer pressure
